No. It needs registration, and after that you can use it freely. See Install and set up.
The app is not registered yet. Confirm the message to start the wizard, fill in the registration form and choose Save.
Yes. The Recorder works in Business Central online and on-premises. For the on-premises license you need the granules listed on the overview. See the release notes for the supported versions.

Yes. At Record Session ID, choose the session of a user who is logged on. That user then performs the task. See Record permissions.
Overwrite replaces all data of the set with the new recording. Use it when the set is incorrect. Modify adds the new recording to the set. Use it when the set is incomplete.
You choose one or more existing sets, usually a set that all users have, such as LOGIN, BASIC or ALL. The Recorder removes the permissions that those sets already give, so the new set only contains what is extra.
During a recording, choose Update Recorded Permissions. It shows the unrefined permissions recorded so far.
Choose Clear recorder data during the recording to remove the temporary data, or record again with Overwrite existing set. To go back to an earlier version of a permission set afterwards, use Advanced Permissions Management.
No. The two apps work independently. Use the Recorder to create a permission set, and Advanced Permissions Management to track, review and roll back changes to it afterwards.
