Find your symptom below. For the steps, see Reconcile inventory accounts.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The first update takes hours | The first run analyzes all value entries and G/L entries | Turn on Process with Job Scheduler. See the update takes very long |
| Many skipped entries | Inventory cost is not yet posted to the general ledger | Run Post Inventory Cost to G/L, then Update again |
| An error about accounting periods | The posting date of the first or last G/L entry is outside the defined periods | Add the accounting periods. See Accounting periods are missing |
| The analysis stops at a date | The trial has an Ending Date | Request a license. See The analysis stops during the trial |
| An error that the trial or license has expired | The status is Trial/Contract Finished | Choose Request License on the setup page |
| An error that you must register the app | The status is Not Registered | Register on the setup page |
| The Difference does not reach zero | Skipped entries, an account that is both inventory and applied, or a changed setup | See The difference does not reach zero |
| The entries are gone after I changed a setting | Date Compression or a Dimension Code was changed, or the trial turned into a contract | Run Update to build the analysis again |
The first analysis can take a long time, up to a whole weekend, depending on the number of value entries and G/L entries. Later updates continue from the last analyzed entry and are much faster.
The app tries to analyze skipped entries again with every update. The most common reason is that inventory transactions are not yet posted to the general ledger. Run the report Post Inventory Cost to G/L and update again. Other reasons are errors in customized code or manual data changes. Choose the number of skipped entries to open the list, and see the skip reasons.
Delete skipped G/L entries only when you know why they exist. See Delete Skipped G/L Entries.
The analysis needs accounting periods. The posting date of the first and the last G/L entry must fall within a defined accounting period. On the Inventory Reconciliation page, choose Updates and then Accounting Periods to check. Add the missing periods in Business Central and run Update again.
During the trial, the analysis stops at the Ending Date on the Inventory Reconciliation page: the end of the month that is three months after the month of the first value entry. After you have a license, the status changes to Contract, which usually takes 24 to 48 hours. Business Central then deletes the entries that were built during the trial, and you run Update to build the analysis up to the current day. See Check your license and Licenses.
Work through these points:
Compressed G/L entries (from the date compression of Business Central) are shown as other non-manual postings, because the app cannot find a linked value entry for them.
Yes, but when the analysis was already updated, Business Central deletes the analysis entries and you have to update again. Plan this before the first update.
Every user who works with the app needs Use Inventory Reconciliation (2C IR RECONCILIATION). See Assign the permission set.
2-Control does not publish figures for table size or run time. Test the update with your own data volume in a sandbox first.
