Follow these six steps to go from "which app?" to a working first task. Each app has its own install and quick start page. This page links to them.
¶ Step 1: Pick your app

¶ Step 2: Check the requirements
- You need a Business Central environment, online or on-premises.
- The version must be supported. See supported Business Central versions.
- Advanced Permissions Management needs Business Central 27 or later, online. It is available for the cloud only; on-premises is available on request (support@2-controlware.com).
- You need an account with SUPER permissions to install, register and assign permission sets.
¶ Step 3: Install
- Online: install the app from Microsoft AppSource. Use the links in the table below. The base app comes with it.
- On-premises: your partner publishes and installs the extensions. See Information for partners.

¶ Step 4: Register and license
- Register each app after every new installation.
- Register each environment separately. A sandbox registration does not carry over.
- Each app has a setup wizard. It guides you through registration.
- After you register, a 30-day trial starts.
- Request a license before the trial ends.
- The apps stay installed after the trial. You need a license to keep using them.
- Advanced Permissions Recorder is free. It needs registration only.

¶ Step 5: Assign permissions
Assign the permission set of the app to every user who works with it. You need SUPER permissions for this.

¶ Advice: sandbox and production
- Try the app in a sandbox first. Use a copy of your production data.
- Change one thing at a time. Test with a user who has no SUPER permissions.
- Rules in Field Security and Field Validation load when a user signs in. Ask testers to sign out and in again.
- When you go live, install and register the app in production. Then assign the permission set again.

¶ On-premises license requirements
Each app needs the granule of Compliance Essentials and its own granule. Your license file must contain both.
